San-Fransiskodakı Kaliforniya Universitetinin alimləri aqressiv meningiomanın ümumi genetik sürücüsünü aşkar ediblər ki, bu da klinisyenlərə bu təhlükəli xərçəngi erkən aşkarlamağa və müalicəsi çətin olan bu şişlər üçün yeni müalicə üsulları tapmağa kömək edə bilər. Dr. David Raleigh-in rəhbərlik etdiyi tədqiqat qrupu FOXM1 adlı artan gen aktivliyinin aqressiv böyümədən məsul olduğunu və bu şişlərin tez-tez residiv etdiyini aşkar etdi.
To investigate the factors that may lead to aggressive meningioma, Raleigh’s team collected 280 human meningioma samples from 1990 to 2015. Using a range of techniques, including RNA sequencing and targeted gene expression profiling, the researchers searched for links between gene activity and protein production in these şişlər and patients’ clinical outcomes. Finally, a gene called FOXM1 was found to be the core of the growth of invasive meningioma, and also an indicator of the subsequent adverse clinical outcomes, including death.
Tədqiqatçılar, təcavüzkar meningiomaların yayılması ilə hüceyrələrarası siqnal yollarının aktivləşməsi arasında adətən embrion inkişafı və toxuma əmələ gəlməsində rol oynayan Wnt adlı yeni bir əlaqə kəşf etdilər. FOXM1 tərəfindən istehsal olunan zülalın Wnt yolu boyunca siqnal ötürə biləcəyi nəzərə alınaraq, yeni məlumatlar FOXM1 və Wnt yolunun kooperativ işinin meningiomaların sonrakı yayılmasına səbəb ola biləcəyini göstərir. Hipermetilasyon aqressiv meningioma meydana gəlməsi üçün erkən bir səbəb ola bilər.
Raleigh said that future work needs to find out which genes FOXM1 activates to drive meningioma growth, and block these targets with clinical therapies. It is hoped that there will be drugs to stop the pathogenesis of beyin şişləri in this pathway as soon as possible and benefit the majority of cancer patients.
