About Hospital
The earliest affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University is The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (FAHZU), which was established in 1947. Presently, it is a hospital of national caliber that integrates preventative care, scientific research, medical education, and healthcare. In addition, it is among the inaugural National Medical Centers and Regional Medical Centers of National caliber that were jointly constructed by the provincial administration and the National Health Commission.
Seven FAHZU campuses house over 5,000 bedrooms in total. In the year 2022, the total number of outpatient and emergency visits surpassed 10.7 million. With a total of 1,900 beds, the Qingchun Campus encompasses an area of more than 12.5 acres and 1.9 million square feet of floor space. Furthermore, FAHZU Headquarters Phase I commenced operations in 2020, encompassing a site area of 33.3 acres and a floor area of 3.2 million ft2 with a total of 1,200 beds. Phase II, on the other hand, will be constructed on 27 acres and feature a floor area of 5.7 million ft2 and 2,000 beds. The Headquarters functions as a pivotal hub for the National Medical Center and the Reginal Medical Center at the national level. Zhijiang Campus, which debuted in 2019, encompasses an area of nearly 25 acres, approximately 1.9 million square feet of floor space, and 1,000 dormitories. Construction is currently underway on Qiantang Campus, also known as a provincial public health medical facility. It will encompass approximately 2000 bedrooms and have a floor area of 300 thousand square meters on a 75-acre site.
Domestically and internationally, FAHZU is renowned for its exceptional medical quality, robust overall strength, and superior specialties. FAHZU was ranked fifth in the “Science and Technology Evaluation Metrics of Hospitals in China” published by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, with eight of its specialties making the top ten. Gastroenterology and Infectious Diseases has been awarded the national finest. FAHZU entered the national top one percentile in the most recent “Performance Review of Public Hospitals in China” published by the State Council, where it was ranked second with an A++.
FAHZU is a sizable general hospital with an approximate workforce of 10,000 individuals. Among this workforce, 675 hold associate senior titles, while 443 hold senior titles. Numerous pivotal initiatives, such as the Innovation Team Programs and Major Programs of the Natural Science Foundation of China, have achieved positive outcomes. The NSCF will fund 159 programs in 2022, setting records for both the number of research programs and the sum of funding. Funding for scientific research has been established at 100 million RMB annually for the past 14 years, surpassing 200 million RMB in nine of those years. It surpasses 300 million RMB in 2021. It has been honored numerous times with the “Zhejiang University Special Contribution to Scientific Research Award” at FAHZU.

The establishment of its National Level International S&T Cooperation Base in Zhejiang Province is unprecedented in the medical field; it specializes in liver diseases and liver transplantation. Simultaneously, FAHZU joined the China-CEEC Hospital Cooperation Alliance in response to the “Belt and Road Initiative” and has vigorously advanced its relations with countries in Central and Eastern Europe, including Hungary. Medical diplomacy has achieved notable successes through the exportation of state-of-the-art technologies and exceptional personnel to Indonesia, Malaysia, and other nations in Southeast Asia.

Infrastructure
Center is located in a separate building in the Headquarters of the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine. The total floor area is approximately 20,000 square meters. It is also the only hospital with a pilot program for pricing reform of international medical services in Zhejiang Province. The Center is equipped with an outpatient department, inpatient department, physical examination center, endoscopy center, radiology center, and auxiliary examination center. It provides all-around services such as a VIP clinic, VIP ward, physical examinations, and personal health management. Three floors are dedicated to accommodation; all are single rooms for inpatient and physical examination featuring a cozy, comforting, and private experience.
Location
The FAHZU The location of the Zhijiang Campus is in Zhijiang New City, Hangzhou. The contemporary medical facility was constructed in collaboration between FAHZU and the Xihu District Government, meeting the rigorous criteria of a grade A tertiary general hospital. Zhijiang Campus, which debuted in 2019, encompasses an area of approximately 25 acres on land, 1.9 million square feet on floor space, and features 1,000 beds.
The Zhijiang Campus outpatient clinic encompasses over 40 clinical departments and 21 state-key clinical specialties, and is staffed with FAHZU’s preeminent experts in order to establish a platform for medical diagnosis and treatment of the highest caliber. The Zhijiang Campus values the creation of an attractive and harmonious ecological environment and endeavors to enhance the medical experience of its patients.
