About Hospital

The fourth affiliated hospital of Southern Medical University, the Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, is a major building project of Guangdong Province’s “Plan to Build a Strong Province with Traditional Chinese Medicine.” The hospital, which occupies 244.5 acres, was established in 2006. It upgraded to a tertiary-level integrated hospital of Western and traditional Chinese medicine in 2014. It was designated as a nationally significant hospital building unit for innovation and inheritance in traditional Chinese medicine in 2017. Guangdong Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine Innovation Research Center is a national drug clinical trial institution and a national standardized training base for traditional Chinese medicine residents. It is also the eighth batch of demonstration sites for learning from Lei Feng in Guangdong Province. There are 1,008 available beds at the moment (Guangdong Province has 2,050 medical planning and building beds).

This hospital is among the very few hospitals that have initiated CAR-T Cell therapy trials in China.

The hospital is comprised of the Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Clinical Medicine Discipline, one of Southern Medical University’s national core disciplines, and is centered on the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the First Military Medical University of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army was the previous name of the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Southern Medical University. July 1975 saw the establishment of it.

The only other organization in the army that combines education, research, and medical practice is the Institute of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, which was founded in 1986. a foundation for developing senior talent in integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine inside the military.

World-famous proprietary Chinese medicine products like Sanjiu Weitai, Zhengtian Pills, and Niaduqing are created by the traditional Chinese medicine practitioners of Nanjing Medical University, who are represented by nationally recognized traditional Chinese medicine physician Professor Chen Baotian.

In the fifth round of topic evaluation, our school’s integrated traditional Chinese and western medical program is ranked as Category A. One of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s high-level core disciplines is the fundamentals of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine. Unit; Key Clinical Specialties of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Traditional Chinese Medicine: Oncology, Hepatology, Encephalology, Rheumatology, Acupuncture and Rehabilitation, Prevention of Diseases, and Nursing are the seven key/specialty specialties of the bureau. Integrated Western and Chinese Medicine for Hepatobiliary Disorders, Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine for Rheumatism, and Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine for Spleen and Stomach Disorders.

The Guangdong Province 5A-level disease prevention center, the traditional therapy and rehabilitation center, the health management center, the special medical service center (Heyuan), and the smart diagnosis and treatment center are just a few of the notable platforms for the collaboration of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine that have been established. There are four inheritance studios at the national level, one at the provincial level, and five at the provincial level that are home to renowned practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine.

Our Team

Our team is made up of gifted individuals with superior quality and expertise. There are 916 professional and technical employees as of right now, 138 of whom hold senior professional designations. There are now 9 well-known TCM physicians in Guangdong Province and 2 nationally recognized TCM physicians. There are seven instructors for inheriting teachers at the provincial level and ten instructors for inheriting the academic backgrounds of seasoned Chinese medicine professionals nationwide.

There are five national TCM nursing backbone talents, one national TCM innovation backbone talent, two national TCM clinical characteristic technology inheritance backbone skills, and one national TCM excellent clinical talent. Five exceptional young medical talents in Guangdong Province, one great clinical talent in traditional Chinese medicine, and one winner of the “May 1st Labor Medal” are all recognized.

Consolidate the smart diagnostic and treatment platform with great vigor, establish an online-offline health service system, establish a remote consultation network for online medical consortiums, and offer the general public easy-to-access online medical services. The hospital is a collaborative unit of the Guangzhou Clinical Medical Research and Transformation Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Liver Cancer by Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, the Haizhu District Cancer Prevention and Treatment Center, and the Guangdong Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Collaborative Innovation Center, all of which pay attention to the leadership of scientific and technological innovation.

In addition to other scientific research innovation platforms fusing Western and traditional medicine, it features a central laboratory, a national drug clinical trial institution, a clinical research center, a tumor clinical research ward, and a phase I clinical research ward. It has published over 150 SCI papers, initiated over 30 national-level projects, over 200 provincial-level projects, and received more than 60 million yuan in funding for scientific research in the last several years.

Infrastructure

The advanced diagnostic and treatment equipment and facilities include a 3.0T magnetic resonance imaging system (MRI), a linear accelerator (LA) for advanced radiotherapy, a computed tomography system (CT), a single photon emission computed tomography system (SPECT/CT), a digital subtraction/DSA vascular interventional therapy system, an endoscopic ultrasound system, a 3D thoraco-laparoscopic system, a digital operating room, and other advanced equipment. The equipment value of the positron emission tomography system (PET-CT) is 420 million yuan, and it is about to be used.

 

 

Location

Situated near the Pazhou International Convention and Exhibition Center and the iconic “Xiaomanyao” in Guangzhou, the hospital is situated in the city’s center. Originally, it was the Guangzhou Military Region Medical College’s compound. There are little bridges, large trees, and flowing water all around the courtyard.
