- Professor Can Atalay is the founding member of the Breast Surgery Association and chaired the association between 2014 and 2018. Still serves as General Secretary.
- Founding member of SENATÜRK Senology Academy and Head of Basic Science, Translational Research & Biobanking Department since 2013.
- Served as Publication Secretary from 2006 to 2014, Vice Editor from 2014 to 2016 and Editor from 2017 to 2019 of Turkish Journal of Surgery.
