The Director of Medical & Precision Oncology at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital is Dr. Sewanti Limaye.
For the first time in the nation, a medical oncologist served as the clinic’s head thanks to Dr. Limaye’s establishment of Precision Oncology. She also advanced the center’s clinical and translational studies in oncology.
Dr. Limaye previously held positions as an assistant professor of medicine, a medical oncologist, and a specialist in early drug development at Columbia University Medical Center-New York Presbyterian Hospital. In Boston, Massachusetts, USA, at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute/Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Phase I – Early Drug Development Centre – Harvard Medical School, Dr. Limaye held the position of Attending in Medical Oncology before joining Columbia University.
All solid tumours, including breast, lung, head and neck, GI, GU, and gynaecological cancers, are among the solid tumours for which she is renowned. Dr. Limaye graduated with distinction from Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College in Bhagalpur, completed her internal medicine residency at New York University, and completed her fellowship in haematology and medical oncology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. She also earned a master’s degree in patient-oriented research (cancer genomics and biostatistics) from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Limaye has collaborated on research projects with experts from the National Cancer Institute, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and Columbia University Medical Centre in the United States. She sits on the ethics committee for Tata Memorial Hospital. Additionally, she co-founded IMPACT India International, a national programme, and Iylon Precision Oncology, an international precision endeavour with world leaders, with Dr. Sendurai Mani from MDACC.
She has served on Data Safety Monitoring Boards and led numerous trials on a national and international level. The Rose and Jack Horowitz Award for quality in patient care, the John-Flynn Young Investigator Award for achievement in clinical research, and the Medical Oncology Research quality Award-ASCO 2008 for excellence in clinical research were all given to Dr. Limaye. She was proposed for the important NCI-MATCH Trial’s National Chair position for Sub-protocol Arm B.
Dr. Limaye is dedicated to the creation of innovative treatments for solid tumours as well as the development of Precision procedures in Cancer Care. Dr. Limaye hopes to bring expertise in cancer care, precision oncology, and cancer research to Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital.
