Dr. Lau Peng Choong Esophageal Cancer Surgery

Dr. Lau Peng Choong is among the leading esophageal cancer specialist in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Dr Lau Peng Choong started his career in surgery in Penang after graduating from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2001. After serving the community in Penang, he joined the UMMC in 2005 and completed his Masters of Surgery in 2009. His subspecialty interest is in Upper Gastrointestinal and Minimally Invasive Surgery.

Dr Lau’s main area of interests are in gastrointestinal cancers (especially gastric and oesophageal), gastric ulcers, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, achalasia, gallstone disease, inguinal and abdominal wall hernias as well as bariatric procedures (surgery for weight loss and metabolic syndrome). He is also an expert in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and believes that keyhole surgery does benefit the patient in hastening the recovery time and shorten their time off work.
