Dr. Benjamin Levy is een thoracaal medisch oncoloog die ook dienst doet als klinisch directeur medische oncologie voor het Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center in het Sibley Memorial Hospital en als universitair hoofddocent oncologie aan de Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Hij werkt vanuit het Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center van het Sibley Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Levy is a clinician scientist who is interested in novel immunotherapeutic treatments for patients with advanced longkanker, as well as biomarkers that help identify those patients who are more likely to respond to such medicines. He specialises in thoracic malignancies such as non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer, thymic malignancies, and hoofd- en halskanker.
Dr. Levy graduated from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed an internal medicine residency at Georgetown University Hospital, followed by a hematology/oncology fellowship at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Centre, where he received the Department of Medicine Research Fellow of the Year Award and the 2009 American Society of Clinical Oncology Young Investigator Award for his prostaatkanker clinical research. Dr. Levy previously worked as an assistant professor at the Icahn School of Medicine, as the medical director of thoracic oncology for Mount Sinai Health Systems, and as the associate director of Mount Sinai Hospital’s Cancer Clinical Trials Office.
Dr. Levy was lid van tal van commissies van de American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) en is momenteel associate editor van de ASCO University Committee. Hij was twee jaar lid van de redactieraad van het Journal of Clinical Oncology en is momenteel een ad-hocrecensent voor aanvullende publicaties zoals Clinical Lung Cancer, The Oncologist en Onco target. Dr. Levy werd onlangs gekozen als een van slechts 15 oncologen in het land om deel te nemen aan het prestigieuze ASCO Leadership Development-programma, dat tot doel heeft toekomstige ASCO-leiders te ontdekken en op te leiden. Dr. Levy is naast zijn ASCO-activiteiten ook lid van het ALLIANCE Respiratory Committee, het IASLC Staging Committee en het IASLC Career Development & Fellowship Committee.
